I speak a lot about the importance of having a team and teaming up with others who have the time, expertise and resources to make possible the kinds of real estate opportunities you want to be a part of.

This week, I really want to highlight just how important I believe it is to be a part of a team. If you have a W-2 job and you’re anything like I was, as a small business owner, you’re likely working 60-80 hour work weeks. That barely leaves enough time for family and free time, let alone real estate investing opportunities.

I never want to say something is impossible. But when working and owning a small business, it is highly unfeasible you will be able to achieve the type of real estate success that leads to financial freedom. Especially when it comes to creating the meaningful networks and partnerships with other professionals in the real estate industry.

To hit this point home, I want to give you all a glimpse into my schedule. This way, you can see all the things the SAO team is doing so you don’t have to!

Thus far, I am projected to be on the road for 174 days this year. That number could be higher, given that my schedule changes on a near daily basis. In fact, the schedule I am able to share with you has already changed since I originally wrote this post.

A Day in The Life of A Real Estate Investor (Like Me)

First, a high-level overview of recurring commitments and meetings:

  • I am a member of three Masterminds which meet several times a year in locations across the country. Each Mastermind meeting typically lasts 3 days, plus a travel day on each side for a total of 5 days.
  • Every other Sunday I phone in with a mini Mastermind group.
  • There is a weekly call with another investor in California to discuss new opportunities.
  • I work with two young, aspiring real estate investors
  • I am a part of a bi-weekly group call for our Fultondale Development Investment team, which will soon move to weekly calls.
  • The SAO team has several Zoom video calls throughout the week.
  • I am constantly visiting new opportunity sites across the country, but in particular Central U.S.

Real Estate Investing Schedules Aren’t Carefree, But I Love The Opportunities

If you’re looking at all this and thinking, “Wow! Looks like a full-time job,” then you’re absolutely right. I absolutely choose this lifestyle because I enjoy it and have control over my schedule to choose to do as much or as little as I wish.

As with any job, there are obvious pitfalls, and given my travel schedule, I have to be extra cognizant and diligent with my health. Sometimes that means not reaching for the bag of peanut M&M’s as I race through an airport, and that’s okay!

There are also meetings I can’t make and tight schedules that require me to go from one place to the next, all in the course of a single day.

So, again I just want to reiterate that you have to be a part of a team. Team up with other people who have the time to invest in creating opportunities that you can be a part of while you’re still in the working world. Get your toe in the water and get involved in opportunities, but know that accomplishing the level of success you want in real estate investing is not feasible on your own.

We’re here for you, and we’re here to make these opportunities possible!
